Despite Ruling, White House Prods Congress to Limit Detainees Rights at Gitmo

NYTIMES- 7/13/2006 - A day after saying that terror suspects had a right to protections under the Geneva Conventions, the Bush Admin. said Wednesday that it wanted Congress to pass legislation that would limit their rights.

WashPost- 11/15/2005 - The Bush Admin has placed stauch conservatives at the Civil Right Arm of the Justice Dept. The group investigated only 49 Racist Violations in 2005.

The Administration has investigated only 3 cases of Violations of the Voters Rights Act of 1965, since it took office. The first was a Reverse Racism Case, claiming blacks were not letting Whites vote in a Mississippi Town!

NYTIMES- 6/29/2006 - Although the White House argued the men are "enemy combattants" outside the Treaty. Article 3 of the treaty clearly states anyone picked up in a signer country is entitled to the rights.

WashPost- 6/23/2006 - "In what was described as a contentious caucus meeting, Southern Republicans complained that their states were being singled out by the act.."

 

Justice Dept. Authorized Texas Redistricting, Eventhough It Violated the Voting Rights Act

WashPost- 5/11/2006 - Lawyers at the Justice Dept. saw it as a violation of the Act. Since Texas has a history of Rascist Redistricting, they have to have speical approval from the Justice Dept, which they received anyway.

Boston Globe- 5/11/2006 - The rarely used clause has been invoked by this President more than any other, to exempt him from bills signed into law under his leadership.

 

Bush Declares He Is Against School Admissions Giving Preference to Minority Students
